A sweet first sip with a smooth caramel finish. A fascinating coffee from Burundi.
This beautifully sweet and smooth coffee starts with a citrus, candied lemon flavour giving way to sweet blackcurrant jam turning to tangerine as the cup cools down. You’ll be greeted by a smooth caramel finish and orange rind lingering.
Every coffee has a story and this is one of collaboration and partnership. Sangira is grown by 404 smallholder farmers who joined together to form The Dusangirumugambi Cooperative in an effort to compete with the larger private firms. Building their own washing station to have greater control over the quality of their coffee and later forming a union of like-minded cooperatives of coffee growers called COCOCA (Consortium of Coffee Cooperatives) they have built a network to support each other through sharing knowledge and experiences.
